Some West Brom fans have been reacting to Kieran Gibbs’ return from injury on social media as the 30-year-old left-back played a full 90 minutes in West Brom’s 3-2 FA Cup loss to Newcastle United on Tuesday.
Gibbs made his first West Brom appearance in over two months in midweek, having been out of action since suffering a hamstring injury in the Baggies’ Championship clash with Leeds United on New Year’s Day, in which he was replaced after just 18 minutes of play.
Despite losing 3-2 to the Magpies, some West Brom fans took solace in Gibbs’ involvement in the entirety of Tuesday’s FA Cup tie. Some Baggies supporters took to social media in the wake of Gibbs’ return from injury to share a positive outlook on the full-back’s return to action. Read the positive reactions of some West Brom fans to Gibbs’ return from injury in the tweets below.

Disappointing to go out but ultimately we couldn’t cope with the pace & movement of Almiron & Saint Maximin, good to see Gibbs back, Phillips best game in along time & Krov lifted us when he came on…. #UTA #wba

There were positives though, thought Edwards had a great game, Phillips looked good during the second half, Harper done ok, Gibbs was excellent #wba

What do we think?
It may be fair to say that playing a full 90 minutes in his first game back from injury is a positive sign for Gibbs, as well as Baggies supporters, to take from West Brom’s recent clash with Newcastle.
It may also be fair to say that the 30-year-old left-back made a solid defensive contribution on his return from injury. Gibbs made a total of three interceptions in Tuesday’s game, which is as many interceptions as any player made for either side in this fixture, according to WhoScored.com.
In addition to that, Gibbs made two successful tackles, one key pass, and one successful dribble versus Newcastle. There may be plenty of positives for some West Brom supporters to take from Gibbs’ performance this past Tuesday, despite the reality that the Baggies ultimately lost the game.
