Some West Brom fans have been reacting with praise to Rekeem Harper’s post-match tweet following The Baggies’ midweek FA Cup clash with Newcastle United.

Harper played all 90 minutes plus stoppage time in The Baggies’ FA Cup clash with Newcastle United this past Tuesday. The 19-year-old midfielder started in West Brom’s midfield three alongside two of the club’s more experienced players, Gareth Barry and Chris Brunt.

Harper provided a spark of youth alongside the two more experienced midfielders. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, 19-year-old Harper is currently the second-youngest member of The Baggies’ first-team squad this season. Nathan Ferguson is the only current West Brom first-team member who is younger than Harper, according to Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Transfermarkt also lists 39-year-old Barry as The Baggies’ oldest first-team squad member this season, while 35-year-old Brunt is West Brom’s third-oldest first-team squad member.

Despite ultimately losing Tuesday’s game 3-2, some West Brom fans have flocked to a tweet that was posted by Harper on Wednesday evening, in which he reflects on the midweek game, to show their appreciation for the performance of the younger member of West Brom’s starting midfield three versus Newcastle.

Harper earned an overall rating of 7.0, according to WhoScored.com, for his performance in this past Tuesday’s FA Cup fixture. Harper was one of only five Baggies players to have earned a rating of 7.0 or more in their recent clash with Newcastle.

The 19-year-old, who is valued at £2.25 million according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, made two successful tackles and one interception, in addition to an impressive total of four successful dribbles in this recent FA Cup fixture. These stats may indicate that the young midfielder made a positive impact for West Brom at both ends of the pitch in this game.

It may be understandable why some Baggies supporters have flocked to show support for the 19-year-old following what many may class as positive performance in midweek.
