Some West Brom fans have been expressing their joy on social media following news that Grady Diangana has returned to training for The Baggies.

West Brom’s official Twitter account shared the news that Diangana is “back in training” via a post from their official Twitter account, sent out by the club on Monday evening. The post included some footage showing the 21-year-old attacker looking nimble during The Baggies’ recent training session.

Diangana joined West Brom on a season-long loan deal from West Ham on deadline day of the 2019 summer transfer window. The 21-year-old quickly put himself into the good graces of West Brom supporters, having hit the ground running upon arriving at The Hawthorns, scoring two goals in his first Championship appearance for The Baggies in a 2-1 win over Luton Town on the 17th of August.

Diangana has made a total of 11 goal contributions for The Baggies in 21 Championship appearances this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. However, the attacker has made just two appearances in West Brom’s last 15 Championship games, as he has struggled with a persistent hamstring injury, which he first picked up in The Baggies’ 3-2 win over Birmingham City on the 14th of December.

Diangana originally missed four games due to his hamstring injury, before returning to action with a substitute appearance versus Charlton Athletic on the 11th of January. However, Diangana received a setback as he was forced off the pitch after just four minutes against Stoke City in a game that saw the attacker make his first start since he picked up his hamstring injury in that Birmingham City game on the 14th of December.

Diangana left the pitch “clutching his hamstring” once again versus Stoke and the attacker hasn’t made a single appearance for The Baggies since that game. Some West Brom fans have been sharing their joy on social media at the news that Diangana has returned to training. Who is the oldest player to make an appearance in the Championship this season?

What do we think?

Diangana has been one of West Brom’s best players this season. The 21-year-old has earned an average overall rating of 7.15, according to WhoScored.com, for his 21 Championship appearances this season. Only three West Brom players have achieved a higher average overall rating than Diangana for the 2019/20 Championship campaign.

Considering The Baggies have failed to win both of their last two Championship games, it may be understandable why some fans have been buzzing at the news Diangana may be set to return to first-team action soon.
