Some Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been responding to one of the club’s recent Twitter posts regarding former striker Gary Hooper. The tweet contains footage of some of the striker’s best goals in the famous blue and white stripes and here is how some of the fans have responded to it.

A fit Gary hooper was arguably the best player we’ve had since we left the premier league. He just made everything click.

What do we think?
It’s clear from the above responses that the Sheffield Wednesday fans still hold Hooper, who is valued at £1.35 million (as per Transfermarkt), in high esteem. The former Celtic striker left Hillsborough in July 2019 (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) and currently plays his football for Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand.
Did Sheffield Wednesday make a mistake letting Hooper leave?
Yes
No
During his time with the Owls, he made 89 appearances in which he scored 31 goals and provided 12 assists. Garry Monk’s side are overly reliant on Steven Fletcher’s goals, evidenced by the fact that nobody has scored anywhere near his total of 13 in the Championship; the next best contributor is Jacob Murphy, who has managed just five. Therefore, you can understand why these supporters are missing Hooper so badly.
