With the Scottish Premiership suspended indefinitely, Gers fans have had to find entertainment from alternative sources. One such source has been the nostalgia of looking back on fond footballing memories.
When the Gers’ official Twitter account posted an old photo of Ally McCoist and Walter Smith at the training ground, fans reacted. When the Gers fans saw this photo they instantly celebrated the two legends, admitting that they miss characters like McCoist and Smith at the club.
Are Smith and McCoist the best manager-assistant duo in Rangers history?

What do we think?
Smith was Rangers manager between 1991 and 1998, as well as between 2007 and 2011. McCoist was Smith’s assistant manager during his second spell in charge of the club. After Smith left in 2011, McCoist took over as manager until 2014.
The duo of Smith as manager and McCoist as assistant ran over a span of 223 games. They averaged 2.11 points per game during their time together.
It is clear from these fan responses that the duo have surpassed cult hero status at Ibrox, and will forever be remembered as legends at the Glaswegian club.
