On Thursday, Rangers face off against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League. It is a match that could define Rangers’ season, with them already being knocked out of the Scottish FA Cup, losing in the Scottish League Cup final and behind by 13 points in the league.
The side’s most potent goal threat in Europe is Alfredo Morelos. The player has scored 14 goals in Europe this season. While Jermain Defoe has scored 17 goals in total this season, only two of them were scored in Europe.
Does Alfredo Morelos need extra support?
Yes
No
But despite Morelos’ clear threat in front of goal, the Colombian has only scored once in 2020. The goal came against Hamilton Academical in the Scottish FA Cup.
His poor form has sparked @RangersSparess to encourage their fellow supporters to get behind the striker. The fan thinks the forward needs a boost in confidence. One fan admits that Morelos can be a potent weapon, while another claims that the atmosphere at Ibrox will be rocking.

Others, however, are more critical. They don’t think the player deserves special treatment, and that the entire group of players should be supported equally. Some say that Morelos has previously failed to feed off the support of the fans.
He only reflects the mood in the whole team, let’s get behind every single one of them broad or narrow

He doesn’t deserve any more or any less support than anyone who pulls on the jersey

Well said but, we need to get right behind the full team.

The fans have always singing his name since the winter break. Still nothing to show for it yet. What else are they supposed to do?

What do we think?
It appears that the Ibrox faithful are growing impatient of Morelos. But should he be inspired to pull out his pre-Christmas form, he could yet send Ibrox into a frenzy on Thursday night.
