Fans of Nottingham Forest have been reacting to footage posted on Twitter, highlighting Lewis Grabban’s late equalising strike against Middlesbrough on Monday evening.

Grabban, who arrived at Forest from Bournemouth in 2018, has been in fine form for the Reds this season, scoring 17 goals in his 35 Championship appearances.

The most recent of the 32-year-old’s impressive haul came on Monday night, with the £4.05 million-rated striker netting Forest’s late equaliser with an impressively improvised finish.

However, the goal caused controversy, with Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate reinforcing his goalkeeper’s claim that Grabban committed a foul before scoring, stating after the game: “I thought the decision at the end by the referee was the wrong decision. Nine out of 10 times, that gets given as a foul, but against us, it doesn’t get given.”

In reaction to the footage of Grabban’s goal, Nottingham Forest fans have flocked to Twitter, with many claiming that the finish was perfectly legal, while others stated their belief that Jonathan Woodgate was simply trying to deflect attention from his side conceding a late equaliser.

What do we think?

Regardless of whether or not Grabban obstructed Aynsley Pears in the Middlesbrough net (and it seems apparent that he didn’t), the striker’s finish was a thing of beauty, delightfully flicking the ball on the volley around the goalkeeper, with enough backspin to ensure that no covering defender could intercept the shot.
