Some Derby County fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently sent out by 19-year-old Max Bird to share praise for the young midfielder.

Derby’s official Twitter account recently made a post sharing some praise of their own for the 19-year-old, stating that the youngster, who came up through Derby’s youth system, has become “an integral part” of the Rams’ first-team. Bird himself acknowledged this tweet, stating that he is “just getting started”.

Bird has earned an average overall rating of 6.86/10 from his 13 Championship appearances this season, according to WhoScored.com. The young midfielder has completed an average of 53.8 passes per game in the Championship this season, in addition to making an average of 1.2 key passes per game

Only two Derby County players have made a higher number of passes per game than Bird has made this season on average, while only three Derby players have made more key passes per game in the Championship.

What do we think?

11 of Bird’s 13 Championship appearances for Derby County this season have come since the turn of the year. It may be fair to say that the 19-year-old’s role within the Rams’ squad has seen an increase in importance since January.

The Rams have played a total of 12 Championship games since the beginning of January. Considering that the 19-year-old, who is currently valued at £1.35m by Transfermarkt.co.uk, has played in 11 of those 12 games, it may be fair to say that the young midfielder has become an important member of Derby’s squad of late.
