Some Charlton Athletic fans have been reacting with frustration in response to a recent tweet from Matt Southall which shared a statement in which he claimed that “there shall be no discussions about (him) stepping away” from the club.

Charlton’s board have recently been engaged in what talkSPORT described as a “civil war”, as the club’s majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer became involved in a public dispute with executive chairman Southall, who the BBC have recently reported has been “removed from the board” of the club’s owners East Street Investments.

On the 10th of March, Southall released a statement via Charlton’s official club website, announcing that the club “accepts Tahnoon Nimer’s resignation as a director”. Nimer subsequently responded to this statement via his Instagram account, where he declared that he would not be leaving the club, as reported by Talksport

In a more recent twist to Charlton’s boardroom saga, Southall made another statement via his official Twitter account on Thursday the 19th of March, in which he declared that “there shall be no discussions about (him) stepping away from the club”.

This post has attracted the attention of some Addicks fans, who have been responding with frustration to Southall’s recent statement. Read the reactions of some Charlton fans to Southall’s recent post in the tweets below.

To kick off this quiz about the past week in the Championship, can you name which manager was announced as February's Championship Manager of the Month last week?

What do we think?

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer recently told Talksport that he’d have rathered if this boardroom row had “not have gone public“. Whilst the club’s board have been engaged in a “civil war”, Charlton haven’t been in the best of form on the pitch of late, with the club sitting in 22nd place on the Championship table. Considering that the club have been struggling on the pitch this season, it may be understandable why some Addicks fans have been particularly frustrated by this public boardroom row.
