Some Celtic fans have been talking about a moment involving their former player Paolo di Canio from days gone by.
A video of Di Canio went viral on social media recently. A Hoops-related page called CelticLisboa relayed that video and it had Di Canio hitting the post from a laid-off free-kick in a game against Rangers back in the days.
Were you impressed with Di Canio's spell at Celtic?
Absolutely
Could have done better
On watching this video, many Celtic fans were left talking and discussing about the former Lazio man. Many thought that it could have been a very good goal if it had gone in.
Sums up Tommy’s Celtic team. Moments of absolute brilliance, but inches away from glory ????

Still think about this. Every freekick on the playground was an attempt of recreating this for months.

@pr3illy mind spending hours out at the goals trying to recreate this!

Unbelievable skill. Very La Tissier-like. It’s a weird one cos you don’t see this at all really now. It’s a great way to take a free kick cos you can get it up and down over the wall with pace. It all depends on the execution of course. My wee man’s team try it when they can.

What a goal that would have been. Paulo was a fantastic player.

Di Canio was at Parkhead from the summer of 1996 to the summer of 1997, when he had left the club to join Sheffield Wednesday. He had joined Celtic from Italian giants Milan. During his time at the Glasgow-based club, Di Canio didn’t win a single trophy.
What do we think?
The video shows that it could have been a great goal if that had gone in. But the fact that Celtic had Di Canio play for them is a great thing in itself, considering how he had made 100 appearances in all competitions for West Ham, Lazio and Juventus each and was a well-known figure in the game back then. His spell might have lasted only one season but that goal could have been special.
