Some Celtic fans have talked about the latest update that the authorities have issued about coronavirus.
Superscoreboard relayed the SPFL Coronavirus Response Group’s decision to suspend traditional pre-match handshakes between players before games in Scotland because of the coronavirus outbreak. This regulation doesn’t just apply to players, but also to referees.
Is it right to suspend handshakes due to coronavirus?
Yes, well-being matters the most
That's a silly thing to do
When this was tweeted out by Superscoreboard, some Hoops fans had many things to say about it.
Aye, that’ll do it!! Well done SPFL made up wee response group. Must’ve took them ages to come up with that nugget.

This must be a joke. Players are in contact with one another all game.

That makes no sense what so ever it’s a contact sport. SFA for you

Funny handshakes will now be performed in the tunnel.
— Bryan McGinley (@McGinleyBhoy180) March 3, 2020
That’s the grand big plan
Are the players to stop celebrating goals together next?
— Garngadbhoy (@shamrockbhoy7) March 3, 2020
Awww honestly this is just ridiculous

Pathetic.

The Scottish Sun had reported some days ago that there is no special provision if the Premiership does get cut short because of coronavirus. It went on to state that if enough games get cancelled because of the breakout, the SPFL would convene emergency meetings to determine any future actions.
What do we think?
Considering how much coronavirus has spread, it is a safe course of action to not shake hands before games, even though it is a footballing tradition. It will work in favour of the players and referees and stop the spread of the disease. Fans might not like it because it goes against the traditions, but wellbeing is far more important than that.
