Some Brentford fans have been drooling over their “Premier League-level” midfielder Christian Norgaard on social media following their dominant win over Sheffield Wednesday this past weekend, with one fan notably claiming that the Danish midfielder is “better than Kalvin Phillips”.

Norgaard played 78 minutes of The Bees’ resounding 5-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in this past Saturday’s Championship clash before being replaced by Brentford’s January signing Shandon Baptiste for the game’s closing minutes.

The Dane delivered a composed performance in the centre of Brentford’s midfield versus Sheffield Wednesday. The 26-year-old midfielder impressively made two key passes in Saturday’s fixture. Only Said Benrahma, Brentford’s leader in assists for the 2019/20 Championship season, made as many key passes as Norgaard did for Brentford in this past weekend’s Championship fixture.

In addition to his positive playmaking performance, Norgaard also delivered a solid defensive performance at the weekend, completing two successful tackles and making one interception in an all-round positive display.

Some Brentford fans have been sharing their appreciation for Norgaard’s recent display on social media. Read the positive reactions to Norgaard’s performance versus Sheffield Wednesday in the tweets below.

Who is the oldest player to make an appearance in the Championship this season?

What do we think?

It may be fair to say that Norgaard has made a positive impact for The Bees this season since arriving from Fiorentina for a fee of £3.15 million, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, in the 2019 summer transfer window.

Norgaard, who is valued at £3.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), has made an average of 2.6 successful tackles per game in the Championship this season, in addition to averaging a total of 1.8 interceptions per game. The Danish midfielder has made a higher number of successful tackles per game and more interceptions per game than any other Bees player in the Championship during the 2019/20 campaign, according to WhoScored.com.

It may be understandable why some Brentford supporters rate the 26-year-old midfielder so highly, given his impressive defensive contributions for The Bees this season.
