Following reports that surfaced from Talksport just over a week ago, which claimed that Jude Bellingham had visited Manchester United’s Carrington training ground, the latest updates on Bellingham’s future link him more closely with a move abroad.

SportBild originally reported that Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund were prepared to spend a transfer fee in excess of £32m in order to bring the Birmingham City youngster to Signal Iduna Park “this summer”. This transfer fee would be a club-record for Dortmund, who set their current club-record transfer fee at £27.45m when they re-signed Mats Hummels from Bayern Munich in the 2019 summer transfer window

The Daily Mail reported that Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich are also engaged in the pursuit of Bellingham’s signature, in addition to England’s Manchester United and Chelsea, on Sunday 15th March.

However, despite allegedly garnering interest from two Premier League clubs, as well as Bayern Munich, the latest reports from Germany claim that Bellingham has chosen Borussia Dortmund as his preferred destination, according to SportBild (via Sport Witness).

SportBild’s head of football Christian Falk also recently posted a tweet declaring that the 16-year-old Birmingham City midfielder “will not join” Bayern Munich, with the Bavaria-based club’s Bundesliga rivals Dortmund currently appearing as “the favourite for the transfer”.

It may be fair to say that a club-record buy from Dortmund would show a large degree of faith from the Bundesliga club in the English youngster’s talent and potential.

At just 16 years old, Bellingham has played a significant role for the Blues in the 2019/20 Championship campaign. The Birmingham City midfielder has featured in 32 of the Blues’ 37 Championship games so far this season, earning an average overall rating of 6.79, according to WhoScored.com.

In addition to featuring in more Championship games than all but four other Birmingham City players this season, Bellingham has earned a higher average overall rating than all but six other Blues players during the 2019/20 Championship campaign.

Considering his impressive performances for the Blues this term as a teenager, it may be fair to say that Bellingham’s potential may excite all of the potential suitors reportedly vying for his signature at present.
