Fans of West Ham United have been reacting to a post on Twitter that relayed comments made by Tony Cottee, in which the 54-year-old refused to rule out his role in a possible takeover of the club.
With increasingly large sections of the West Ham fanbase protesting against the ownership of David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady, who took over the club in 2010, rumours have begun surrounding a potential takeover at the East London club.
West Ham fans are furious at what they feel is the undelivered promise of “next-level football” made to the fans as a primary reason for their move from Upton Park to the London Stadium, with some claiming that they had “said goodbye to their history for nothing”.
However, former West Ham striker Cottee has recently spoken out on a potential takeover, stating on Twitter: “I was involved in [the] Landsbanki takeover but obviously didn’t get a role at the club… never say never in football!”
In reaction to Cottee’s comments, fans of West Ham have taken to social media, with many criticising their former star for his role in the Landsbanki takeover.

What do we think?
There have been increasing rumours of a potential West Ham takeover of late, with the Saudi Arabian-backed consortium that has been in talks to buy Newcastle United reportedly switching its attention to the East London club.
