Spurs fans have been discussing a tweet from Toby Alderweireld after it was announced that Premier League fixtures have been suspended until April due to the recent viral outbreak.
The centre-back tweeted, saying: “The well-being of fans, players, staff and everyone must come first during this situation. Please respect & follow the measures taken to try to turn this around as soon as possible. My thoughts go out to those already affected and I hope everyone can stay as safe/healthy as possible.”
The 31-year-old signed a new contract with Spurs earlier in the season and has been a regular in Jose Mourinho’s side; making 27 appearances and averaging a 6.79 rating in the Premier League. Since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2015, the Belgian international has made 195 appearances for the North London club, scoring seven goals.
