Spurs fans have been discussing the fitness of Tanguy Ndombele after Andre Gomes made his comeback for Everton during their match against Manchester United at the weekend.

The Portuguese midfielder fractured his ankle in Spurs’ trip to Goodison Park back in November but was able to make his return to first-team action during the weekend’s action; playing 81 minutes against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. This has led to one Spurs fan on Twitter questioning how the former Barcelona man can play 81 minutes, whilst Tanguy Ndombele struggles to run for 30.

Since joining Spurs in a club-record deal over the summer, the Frenchman has struggled with his fitness and as a result, has started just 11 times in the Premier League. The 23-year-old revealed he was substituted due to fatigue earlier in the season and has since been prescribed a special fitness programme by Jose Mourinho.

One fan even claimed Ndombele has a touch of Emmanuel Adebayor laziness. Indeed, it’s safe to say that this fan isn’t the only person who has mentioned the words Adebayor and laziness, as his former Crystal Palace team-mate Brede Hangeland stated in 2017 that he was ‘very lazy’ and that he used to eat muffins in the gym, as well as switching off during games because he was hungry (as per Mirror).

These Spurs fans seem to be losing patience with Ndombele and his ongoing fitness problems.

What do we think?

Ndombele was handed a rare start by Mourinho in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea recently and failed to impress, so unless he can rapidly start to show why Spurs broke their transfer record to sign him, Mourinho may well move him on in the summer.
