Spurs fans were less than impressed to hear that Daniel Levy is keen to see the club feature in the summer Club World Cup.

According to Football.London the Spurs chairman has admitted that, although it would be potentially problematic, he would like Spurs to play in the Club World Cup as each team will earn up to £50 million for taking part. The 58-year-old spoke to the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust about the Club World Cup, with the minutes of that meeting as follows:

“Daniel Levy would like Spurs to take part in that. It could replace an overseas tour and offer a more competitive edge for the players.

“However, there would be problems for the fixture calendar with too many games already. The FA is currently looking at how to ease pressure.” per Football.London

The first expanded Club World Cup is set to take place in China in the summer of 2021 and will feature 24 clubs from across the globe in order to decide the world’s best team.

Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

These Spurs fans are clearly less than happy with Levy’s plans and suggest that they don’t have the squad depth to be able to take part in such a competition.

What do we think?

Although it may represent serious financial gain, a Club World Cup would add to an already congested fixture list and considering the injury problems Spurs have faced already this season, it seems very risky.
