Alasdair Gold did a Q&A with Spurs fans at the weekend and discussed the North London club’s need of a director of football, with reference to Luis Campos.

In his article for Football.london, the journalist took a question from a fan asking about whether they were suffering from a lack of director of football. It comes presumably in the wake of their 3-0 loss against RB Leipzig, where former chief scout Paul Mitchell headed to after leaving Spurs.

Gold responded, saying (via Football.london): “Since Paul Mitchell left Spurs have not had someone in that sporting director role. Steve Hitchen has been working away as chief scout, in regular communication with first Pochettino and now Mourinho, but the fact that the Portuguese has been brought in as a head coach, rather than manager, suggests the club would look to redress this in the future with a sporting director.

“Luis Campos seems the obvious choice, knowing Mourinho well and having said he would follow him anywhere last year. He also comes with plenty of pedigree.

Do you think Campos could join in the summer?

“Tottenham need to fix themselves on the pitch to match their off-the-pitch improvements and it would perfect sense this summer to bring in a new sporting director.”

TIF Tactics:

Campos has gained an excellent reputation for his work with Monaco, where he helped bring through huge talents such as Bernardo Silva, Kylian Mbappe and Fabinho. He then made the move to Lille in 2017, helping guide them into the Champions League in this season’s campaign.

How well do you remember Spurs' run to the Champions League final last season? - Which of these teams weren't in Spurs' group?

When Jose Mourinho originally joined Spurs back in November, there were plenty of reports suggesting that Campos could follow him to North London, so perhaps we will see him join up with the Lilywhites in the summer.
