Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to slate Dele Alli after the midfielder’s poor performance during the 3-2 defeat against Wolves on Sunday.
The 23-year-old struggled throughout the game against Nuno Espirito Santo’s side; earning a 6.83 rating for his performance, which was perhaps saved by his assist (0:58) for Serge Aurier’s goal. The England international shot straight (0:12) at Rui Patricio and was perhaps fortunate that Steven Bergwijn was there to save his blushes by finishing the rebound (0:14) to open the scoring during Sunday’s game.
So far this season, the former MK Dons man has averaged a decent 6.97 rating for his performances in the Premier League but has struggled in recent weeks; last earning a rating above a 7.0 in January’s win over Norwich. It is no surprise that with the injuries to Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son as well as Alli underperforming, that Jose Mourinho’s side have now lost each of their last three games.
How would you rate Dele Alli's season so far?
Disappointing
One of the better performers
Reaction from Spurs fans to Alli’s performance can be seen in the tweets below.
Dele Alli needs to be dropped! We look so average without a striker! Serge is putting ball after ball – no response! We have an academy for a reason! Winks has also been average. #THFC #COYS

Can we all agree selling Alli would be a good thing to do? #thfc

Harry Winks is overrated, Dele Alli is massively overrated

Alli is really letting this side down, with such poor and sloppy touches and passes. #THFC #COYS

In recent years I’ve not known a player get more support from fans then Dele, we sing his name week in week out. When we need him the most he is nowhere to be seen. Wasted talent, weak mentality #COYS #THFC

a playmaker since 2018. Finally Dele Alli has like Dier massively regressed from that season and should be nowhere near that team.

@dele_official the biggest waste of space week in week out and no one can see it #TOTWOL

These Spurs fans clearly weren’t too happy with Alli’s performance against Wolves and feel as if he is a long way from the player they have seen in previous seasons; most notably the 2016/17 season where he hit 18 goals in the Premier League.
What do we think?
Alli was perhaps the man expected to step up in the absence of Kane and Son, but the midfielder has just one goal in his last 14 appearances for the North London club. The £81 million rated man’s form will arguably have to improve if the Lilywhites are to have any chance of finishing in the top four this season.
