In his latest Q&A session with Spurs fans, Alasdair Gold has discussed the goalkeeper situation at the North London club, including the future of Michel Vorm.

In his article for Football.london, Gold writes that: “Michel Vorm will likely leave the club for a second time this summer and Mourinho will want to bring in another ‘keeper to challenge Lloris,” (per Football London live blog (17:07)).

The former Swansea man was released in the summer but re-joined in October 2019 to provide cover after Hugo Lloris’ elbow injury earlier in the season.

Since then, the 36-year-old has made just one appearance for Jose Mourinho’s side, which came in the FA Cup penalty defeat against Norwich earlier this month. Considering the former Dutch international earned a 6.2 rating in that game, with an error contributing to Josip Drmic’s equaliser (1:45), it is not a surprise that Spurs fans haven’t seen him in the side since.

Considering Lloris’ struggles in the recent game against RB Leipzig and Paulo Gazzaniga’s indifferent form so far this season, it is no surprise to hear that Gold thinks Mourinho will be on the hunt for another ‘keeper in the summer transfer window. With Vorm looking likely to leave, perhaps we will see a youngster such as Brandon Austin or Alfie Whiteman make the step-up to the first-team.

In total, the Dutch ‘keeper has made 48 appearances for the North London club, having originally joined from Swansea in 2014. It appears that with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Vorm may well have played his last game for the Lilywhites.
