Some Southampton fans have been talking about the latest injury update that Adam Blackmore has provided ahead of their Newcastle United clash.
Blackmore, who is Radio Solent’s Sports Editor, posted a fresh injury update on Twitter. It said that Stuart Armstrong will miss the game against the Magpies due to concussion. Youngster Will Smallbone will also not feature while Nathan Redmond remains out of contention as well.
Are Southampton still in the relegation battle?
I'm afraid we are
Not yet!
On reading Blackmore’s tweet, many Saints fans were not happy with the injury situation at the club. They made their opinion about it clear.
That is a huge blow.
Can we expect 3-5-2 you think Adam?

Armstrong is a big miss

He’ll be a big miss. Nothing Ralph can do but what he can do is move JWP back into midfield. 3 pts from this one and it’s almost job done.

Injury Luck not goi going our way at the moment

I bet Armstrong plays. This is the usual smoke and mirrors. If he got concussion they would have taken him off immediately when it happened in the the last game. You don’t decide he’s got it after he played 90 minutes.

Armstrong has played only 21 games in the Premier League this season, with just 12 being starts. Redmond has made 23 Premier League appearances and has not featured since starting in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool.
As for Smallbone, the youngster has played in the club’s last two Premier League games against West Ham and Aston Villa.
What do we think?
The news does come as a blow for the Saints, considering the impact this game can have on the season. Southampton are only two points ahead of Newcastle and one spot ahead of Steve Bruce’s men in the table. Losing the game won’t bode well. The idea should be to get on with what Ralph Hasenhuttl has for the time being.
