Some Southampton fans have been talking about the latest transfer update involving midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg recently.
The Daily Echo recently reported that Hojbjerg hasn’t turned down a new Southampton contract. The report goes onto state that the target for the club is to reach the 36-point mark in the Premier League before sorting out contract-related business.
SaintsNews&Views recently relayed this piece of information on social media and it got a reaction out of many Saints fans. They had a lot of things to say.

Reports that you were trying to share as factual…

Sounds reasonable to wait and see if we do actually stay in the Premier League, it’s so tight in the bottom half of the table. Need to beat Newcastle and Norwich so talks can start otherwise we will have to wait until early April with no games in second half of March.

Fair enough but I do still wonder with the change of agent and his head being turned whether he will stay. I hope he does and should he go hopefully not to Spurs!

Daily Echo journalist Dan Sheldon, who was the author of the report, relayed the article on Twitter himself. That too got a reaction out of Saints fans.
People need to stop slagging him off over a rumour or they will force him towards the door.

Football Insider had recently claimed that Hojbjerg had rejected a new Saints contract with a view to seeking a move away from the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, with Tottenham Hotspur interested.
What do we think?
As per Whoscored, Hojbjerg has picked up the fourth-highest rating (6.83) at Southampton this season. It suggests how important he can be to the team and how key he is in their bid to secure Premier League survival this season.
The Dane’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2021 and if Southampton want to hand him a new contract, they need to act soon.
