Some Southampton fans have reacted to former striker Manolo Gabbiadini’s latest Twitter post and have wished him well in his recovery from coronavirus, following the Italian’s announcement on social media.

Gabbiadini confirmed on Thursday afternoon that he had tested positive for coronavirus. The ex-Saints forward posted on Twitter, telling fans that he is fine and that they should not worry. He urged his followers to follow the rules and stay at home to be safe.

Many Southampton fans rushed to the Sampdoria forward’s post, wishing him well in his recovery.

Gabbiadini had joined Southampton in early 2017 from Napoli for a fee in the region of £14 million. He scored four goals in his first three Premier League games for the Saints and scored twice in the League Cup final against Manchester United.

After that spell of four in three games, Gabbiadini could score only six more Premier League goals. He left the club to join Sampdoria in January 2019.

What do we think?

One can only hope that Gabbiadini gets well soon and gets back onto the pitch for the Blucerchiati. He has already contributed to nine goals in all competitions so far this season.
