A lot of Newcastle United fans are not happy with Alan Hutton after he suggested that a move for Phil Jones to the Toon could help him rejuvenate his career.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former Tottenham Hotspur man thinks that going to a team like Newcastle would allow Jones to “get his head down” and the manager would “look after him“.
Hutton then praised Bruce and said that he makes it a “really good environment to go and work” and is someone “who can get the best out of players“.
Would you want Phil Jones at Newcastle?
Yes
No
However, these Toon fans do not want Jones at their club.
Pundit believes #NUFC would be a good move for Phil Joneshttps://t.co/Jhkd0G4UzL

All of our central defenders are better than him. He’s a big donkey.

If Bruce wants the fans on his side don’t sign him now if Bruce wants the fans to think he is a fool we’ll go ahead and sign him

Other Newcastle supporters acknowledge it would be a good move for the Manchester United man but not them.
Good for him, not good for Newcastle United. We all ready have 5 better centre backs & Dummet can cover there aswell. No thanks. #nufc

Of course it would be a good move for him. Moving to a PL club when you’re an expensive League One player is incredible. Not so much for the club.

Yes it would be good for him but not for NUFC

What do we think?
Jones was linked with a £12m move to the Toon over the weekend, and it seems that Hutton believes that this would be a good move.
However, Newcastle currently have five players (And Paul Dummett) who can all play centre-back – so we don’t think they need Jones.
Still, it will be interesting to see if they make a move for the 28-year-old in the summer.
