A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a tweet from the Evening Chronicle about Danny Rose, who is valued at £18 million (as per Transfermarkt).
The tweet has a link to a piece that includes Steve Bruce talking about how he wants to keep the 29-year-old on Tyneside permanently once his loan is done.
Bruce, speaking to the Chronicle, was full of praise for Rose and called him an ‘established quality player’ and that he was ‘delighted with him’.
The former Sunderland boss also hinted that he wants to have Rose at the club for longer than his loan spell, and this has drawn a negative reaction from these Toon fans.
Do you want Newcastle to sign Rose in the summer?
Yes
No

He’d be my 4th choice at LB this season, Willems, Dummett and Ritchie all better in that position. Wouldn’t take him on a free.

He does not look fit and judging by the past games he’s played for us, looks well off the pace of the game. Must improve fitness.

Surely he has to play better than he has so far. Otherwise it’s just buying on reputation. Something Bruce has been guilty of at previous clubs

Other Newcastle supporters would much prefer Jetro Willems.
Nope! Willems all day, every day. Rose isn’t the player he once was #NUFC

If he buys Willems I wouldn’t mind Rose as back up but he is not the player he once was

willems >>>> rose

Rose is Massively overrated. Willems, even though he had a few rough patches is better in my opinion plus he’s younger so he has time to get better.

What do we think?
Rose joined Newcastle on loan till the end of the season, but there is no option to buy – so it is unclear how much he would cost in the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur, though, are keen to sell him to Newcastle.
Rose, by his own admission (BBC Radio Newcastle via the Sunderland Echo), has not played that well for the Toon, though, this is a man who has 29 England caps – so we feel that if he can find his form, he could be a good signing for Newcastle.
