Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that Pep Guardiola could be interested in Atletico Madrid’s central midfielder Saul Niguez.
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, the £81 million-rated Saul Niguez is becoming frustrated over contract renewal talks with his current club, Atletico Madrid.
As such, the reports suggest that both Manchester City and Manchester United have been keeping a watchful eye on the midfielder, who has a minimum release clause of €150 million (£140.8m) written into his current contract, which runs until 2026.
In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by City Chief on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to share their opinion on the matter, with many claiming that they would love to see the Spanish international join the club, while others were not as convinced about the potential signing.

Would give anything to have him over gundogan.
Offer gundogan in a swap deal. My dream midfield is Kdb, Saul and Rodri. Also, he played Lb for ATM many times, our problem position. When dinho leaves, the midfield players would be kdb, rodri, saul, foden and Berndardo. ?— Karan (@Karan91009734) March 19, 2020

What do we think?
The interest in Saul Niguez is certainly understandable, as the 25-year-old has made a total of 26 La Liga appearances, scoring three goals and averaging an impressive WhoScored match rating of 7.23 in the process.
Indeed, it is a similar story for the Spaniard in the Champions League, where not only did he score Atletico’s goal in their first-leg victory over Liverpool, but he has also averaged a remarkable WhoScored match rating of 7.43 over his eight appearances in Europe.
With David Silva departing Manchester City this summer, Guardiola will have a space to fill in the middle of the park next season, and judging by his performances this year, there would certainly be worse options than Saul Niguez.
