Fans of Manchester City have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that claim City are very interested in signing Bayern Munich’s David Alaba.
According to reports in Spanish publication Sport (via Sport Witness), City first attempted to sign the Austrian international last summer, as part of negotiations between the two clubs for City winger Leroy Sane.
However, despite the deal for Sane falling through last year, City have reportedly retained their interest in Bayern’s player, and are once again in talks with Alaba regarding a summer move to the club.
In reaction to the reports, which were relayed by City Chief on Twitter, fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating their belief that Manchester City should have signed Alaba a long time ago, while others have suggested that the £58.5million-rated player is a true superstar of the game.

City tried to sign him last summer, but Bayern refused to sell after the Etihad club vetoed Sané’s sale.

What do we think?
The signing of Alaba would certainly help to solve some of City’s defensive issues.
Multiple injuries suffered by both Aymeric Laporte and John Stones have often left City short at the back this season, with Pep Guardiola having to resort to fielding midfielder Fernandinho from the centre of defence.
In signing Alaba, Guardiola would welcome a player adept at playing both from left-back and more centrally, and as he is still only 27-years-old, has a good few years ahead of him in the game yet.
