Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to slam goalkeeper Adrian after the Reds’ Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid.
This comes after the Spaniard played his part in the Reds’ 3-2 defeat at the hands of Diego Simeone’s side at Anfield.
Was Adrian solely to blame for Liverpool's defeat?
Yes
No
After the match had ended and Jurgen Klopp’s side said goodbye to retaining their Champions League title, many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to share their frustrations with Adrian’s display in the game.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans slamming Adrian:
Hope Adrian never plays another game for us ever ever again

Sorry, Adrian is a good keeper but just not good enough for us. Poor keeping cost us 3 goals.

Adrian is way out of his league for a goalkeeper, very very poor

Adrian should just pack his bag and leave our club alone

I’d honestly have Karius back. I hate when the camera even shows Adrian on the bench. He just reeks of imposter/calamity.

The goalkeeper was at fault for Madrid’s first goal of the night after his poor goal clearance went straight to Joao Felix who fed Marcos Llorente, who then fired the ball past the helpless Adrian in the Liverpool goal (per BBC Sport). Adrian’s performance in the match resulted in the Spaniard getting a match rating of 4.85, the lowest of any player on the field (per WhoScored). After the match had ended, Adrian quickly became the victim of a lot of abuse from Liverpool fans who were not happy with what they saw from the shot-stopper.
Adrian has been terrible tonight but our finishing has been terrible too
A game we should have won by 5 in normal time to end up losing like this to an awful footballing side makes it worse #liverpool #LFC— Mexmarklfc (@mexmarklfc) March 11, 2020
Ciil walahy……Adrian Adrian should be chased away from the club disgrace, schoolboy errors shouldn’t be tolerated at this stage.

Adrian actually just knocked us out of 2 cups in one week

all that domination for nothing, all adrian had to do was to not screw up, honestly speechless

What do we think?
Adrian will be disappointed with his performance and mistake in the match that saw Liverpool crash out of the Champions League, and the Reds fans are undoubtedly (and unsurprisingly) unhappy with him, too. However, to have this amount of abuse on Twitter thrown his way is perhaps a bit much.
