Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to discuss their thoughts and feelings on former assistant manager Sammy Lee.
This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official page that included an article from The Athletic on how Lee is viewed by Liverpool fans after his stint as Everton’s assistant manager under Sam Allardyce.
Is Sammy Lee a Liverpool club legend?
Yes
No
In the caption of his post, Pearce revealed that Lee was initially worried about how he would be treated after his Everton spell but added that Lee claimed that the fans had been “great” to him since.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Liverpool fans who were eager to share their own feelings on the coach.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post from Pearce:
Sammy Lee has only recently started attending games at Anfield again. He was worried about the reaction from #LFC fans after his spell at Everton.
“Even if it had only been one person it would have hurt but the people have been great to me.” https://t.co/GITWAALEgf— James Pearce (@JamesPearceLFC) March 19, 2020
Sammy is a red…he’s always been a red..just because he wasn’t employed by the club should never question his love and loyalty to LFC…

Liverpool should find him a job at the club, he is still legend at Anfield.

He is forgiven. He was just following his boss. Michael Owen will never be forgiven – he had a choice

The Englishman was the Reds assistant coach from May 2008 to June 2011 alongside previous Liverpool managers such as Rafael Benitez, Roy Hodgson and Sir Kenny Dalglish (per Transfermarkt). In December 2017, he joined Everton as Sam Allardyce’s assistant coach that lasted for 26 games until May 2018 (per Transfermarkt). Now that Pearce has shared a post on his Twitter page surrounding Lee’s current reception from Liverpool fans, this has paved the way for lots of Reds to share their admiration and appreciation for Lee.
Give him the U23s job.

What do we think?
It’s great to see so many Liverpool fans recognising and praising Lee’s work at the club despite his short time at their Merseyside rivals.
