Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri has missed the last seven Premier League games and the club’s recent dip in form has prompted these fans to discuss the Swiss international’s absence.
Signed from Stoke City in July 2018 for a reported fee of £13.23m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk), the 28-year-old has made 40 appearances for the Reds, scoring seven goals and contributing five assists.
Would Shaqiri been more useful on the wing than Origi?
Yes
No
This season, he’s been limited to just six Premier League appearances and with Jurgen Klopp having rotated heavily in the recent FA Cup tie at Stamford Bridge – these fans believe had he been available, he could have had a positive influence on proceedings.
Yh such a shame he would of been 10x more useful than origi on the wings.

Would’ve easily had a difference over Norwich, Atletico and Chelsea.

Need someone like him. I hope he can get some games for us under his belt before he moves on. Really miss the Lad. Class Player that really loves Liverpool. Build his own house somewhere in between Manchester and Liverpool.. maybe there’s still hope for the future..

I love shaq but if he gets injured again before the end of the season then he has to go in the summer, he’ll just be dead weight stealing wages, he must be replaced with someone who’s not injury prone and someone we can rely on to be fit and jump in the squad whenever required

He is one of the best players . It’s a real mystery for me why Klopp doesn’t let him play more often !

Gone in the summer

It’s crazy and unlucky he wanted to prove himself and would of had plenty of chances to do so in the FA cup and Carabao cup. His goal against Everton this season after his injury comeback was amazing.

Yeah so he can take Lallana’s spot

What do we think?
Based on the replies, it’s clear that these fans value the player’s qualities however, they are within their rights to express concerns regarding his injury record. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Shaqiri is valued at £19.8m and so if the club decides to try and move him on in the summer we expect they would recuperate a significant chunk of their investment.
We can speculate, but we will never know whether he would have been able to positively influence the games against Atletico Madrid, Watford and Chelsea.
