Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards helped negotiate a 30% sell-on clause on Luis Alberto’s sale to Lazio in August 2016 (as per the Liverpool Echo).
It’s reported that the Serie A outfit are desperately trying to tie the Spaniard down to a new contract and that if they fail to do so, they could demand £69m for the 27-year-old in the summer with a number of high-profile clubs throughout Europe said to be interested.
Does Michael Edwards get the credit he deserves?
Yes
No
If he was to move on for the quoted fee, Liverpool would be due to receive nearly £21m as a result of the clause, therefore significantly boosting their summer transfer kitty.
Here’s how some of the supporters have reacted to the news.

These fans, however, aren’t sure that Luis Alberto is worth £69m, believing that a transfer for that amount is far from a realistic possibility.
I dont see a world where he goes for more than 50m

What do we think?
Luis Alberto’s Lazio currently occupy second place in Serie A, just a solitary point behind the current champions Juventus. He has started in 96% of their league fixtures, providing 13 assists and scoring four goals in 25 appearances (via Transfermarkt.co.uk).
Sold by the Reds for just £3.6m, Alberto is now valued at a mega £49.5m – therefore, Edwards’ insistence on including a sell-on clause has looked to have proved to be an excellent piece of business.
