Supporters of Liverpool have been slating Michael Owen. who is the club’s international ambassador, after an admission on his move to Manchester United on Jamie Carragher’s podcast.
In episode 14 of Carragher’s podcast, the Englishman revealed that when he joined United, he had the option of the Red Devils, Everton or Hull City but not the Reds (per The Greatest Game), which had supporters slamming Owen (via @LFCTransferRoom).
Michael Owen (On Signing for United): "At the time I’m thinking: ‘I can go top of the league Man United, I can go mid-table Everton, or I can go relegation zone with Hull.. I don’t know what I could’ve done. Every single avenue I always tried to go back [to #LFC but couldn’t]." pic.twitter.com/CWIGilXUe4

Not my ambassador— Sagar Nair (@SagarNa30) March 21, 2020
He should’ve gone to Hull.

Fergy knew what he was doing when he signed you, you lost everyone’s respect as soon as you went there. If he went to Everton it wouldn’t of been as bad. But to go there is something a snake would do. And he’s still a Liverpool ambassador, that I can’t get my head around.

What do you think about Michael Owen's comments on his move to Manchester United?Got no time for them, he's a snakeThe comments are fair, I believe him |
The 40-year-old was promoted from the Reds’ academy in 1997 and spent seven years at Anfield before departing Merseyside for Real Madrid in 2004 (per Transfermarkt).
Owen then joined Manchester United in 2009 on a free transfer and spent three seasons at Old Trafford (per Transfermarkt), which Liverpool fans could not forgive the former striker for.
Sorry but no. At that time he definitely would have had offers from other clubs. He chose united. A choice 99.99% of ex liverpool players would never make so he deserves the hate he gets imo

Sounds like Phil Coutinho is a déjà vu of Owen’s situation…

What do we think?
As can be judged from the responses, it is clear to see that many Liverpool supporters still bear a grudge over Owen signing at Old Trafford after four seasons with Newcastle United (per Transfermarkt).
However, with the forward having bagged a whopping 158 goals and 16 assists over 297 appearances for the Reds (per Transfermarkt), fans may be better served remembering the good times rather than the bad.
