Spurs fans have been discussing Jan Vertonghen’s tweet about the ongoing viral outbreak.

In his tweet, the Belgian defender suggests that those who don’t respect the current guidelines of social distancing and staying at home whenever possible should be fined. He wrote: “Should fine big time for everyone who’s not respecting the protection measures and give the money back to NHS, doctors, nurses, key workers etc…”

The Premier League is currently suspended, with action returning on the 30th April at the earliest and the experienced defender was quick to share his views on the situation. It is still unknown when or how the Premier League will be completed, although, with the former Ajax man out of contract at the end of June, he may yet not finish the season.

These Spurs fans clearly agree with Vertonghen’s tweet on the current viral outbreak.

What do we think?

It will be interesting to see how Vertonghen’s contract situation progresses over the next few weeks, but it could well emerge that the 32-year-old may have played his last game for the North London club if the Premier League doesn’t resume before the £16.2 million rated man’s contract expires.
