Liverpool fans have been talking on Twitter about the future of winger Xherdan Shaqiri.
This comes after Liverpool-focused Twitter account @empireofthekop shared a post on their page quote-tweeting a post from @Dugout of a video of a free-kick Shaqiri scored for previous club Stoke City.
The Liverpool page captioned their quote-tweet asking their followers if the winger has a future at the Merseyside club.
Would you sell or keep Shaqiri this summer?
Keep him
Sell him
This post then gathered a number of replies from Liverpool fans who were all keen to share their views on Shaqiri.
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans responding to the post:
What a player – but does he have a future at Anfield? ?? https://t.co/kqUnDMQ7oP

I love him as a player and would hope he will succeed at this club but i think he might leave ?

I miss him. We embraced him like no other player. We forget how good he is tbh

He’s been very under-utilised imho; he’s had huge impacts in games when he’s not played great, but I think the majority of the games in which he’s played, he’s done very positive things!

The Swiss international first joined the Merseyside club back in the 2018 summer transfer window for a fee of £13.23 million (per Transfermarkt). Shaqiri is currently valued at £18 million according to Transfermarkt, after making just 40 appearances for the Reds, scoring seven goals and providing five assists along the way. Now that the 28-year-old’s future at Anfield has been called into question, this has led to lots of Liverpool fans replying with their thoughts on the winger.
No future at Anfield, he needs to be playing first team and not gonna get it with us. It’s disappointing for him ( and us ) cos he’d more than likely walk into any team. Great talent

He’s a player to remember for sure. But he’s job is done we need to move forward and keep building a squad to compete for all silverware.

Great player but Klopp has not been playing him enough. Looks inevitable he will leave.

What do we think?
Based on these replies, it appears that while Shaqiri is liked by the fans, they don’t see a lasting future for him at the club. This is a shame for Shaqiri as he has had his fair share of injury issues since his arrival on Merseyside.
