Liverpool are said to be ‘stalking’ the Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, according to Marca via Sport Witness. It’s thought that Real Madrid are closing in on a move for the 17-year-old who they believe would be a good alternative to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

However, it’s claimed that the Reds, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are keeping a very close eye on the situation after Barcelona pulled out of the race to sign the Frenchman. Therefore, a move to Anfield for Camavinga is not totally out of the question.

The Sport Witness report states that the Reds are keen on what would be a big-money signing.

He averages 4.3 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 1.9 fouls per match in Ligue 1. Liverpool’s current defensive midfield options include Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. The Brazilian’s current performance rating stands at 6.83/10 and the England international’s is 7.2/10.

The young midfielder is currently valued at £37.8m (via Transfermarkt.co.uk) and whilst he may not necessarily represent an immediate upgrade on the current crop, if Liverpool were to do a deal for the French Under-21 international, in our view, they would be signing him for his potential.
