Some Leicester City fans have been praising Nampalys Mendy on social media following Leicester’s Premier League win over Aston Villa on Monday.

Some Leicester City fans have been sharing support for Mendy in response to a post-match tweet that was recently sent out by the 27-year-old midfielder. Mendy expressed his joy at helping his side earn all three points in Monday’s game, via his recent tweet

Mendy made his first Leicester City appearance since 22nd January in their recent win over Aston Villa. The French midfielder suffered a knee injury in Leicester’s 4-1 win over West Ham, which subsequently resulted in Mendy sitting out four straight Premier League games, before returning to the pitch against the Villans.

Mendy only made a brief appearance in Monday’s Premier League win, being introduced as an 83rd-minute substitute, replacing Wilfred Ndidi for the closing minutes of the game. Regardless, some Foxes supporters have been sharing praise for the 27-year-old on social media following this fixture. Some Leicester City fans took the opportunity to call for Mendy, whose contract is set to expire this summer, to sign a new deal at the King Power Stadium in response to his recent post-match tweet.

What do we think?

Mendy has not featured a great deal for Leicester City throughout the 2019/20 campaign. Mendy’s brief appearance versus Aston Villa takes his total of Premier League minutes for the 2019/20 season up to just 202, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. The French midfielder has made a total of just six appearances in all competitions for the Foxes this season.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Mendy’s current Leicester City contract will expire this summer. Considering the lack of game time that Mendy has been given for The Foxes this season, it may be understandable for some Foxes supporters to speculate on the £6.3 million-valued midfielder’s future at the club.
