Many Birmingham City fans have been reacting with excitement to a recent Twitter post from Jérémie Bela, which suggests that Blues fans may see the 26-year-old attacker back on the pitch sooner rather than later.

Bela left the pitch on a stretcher in Birmingham City’s recent 2-2 draw with QPR, after playing 73 minutes of the game. Birminghammail.co.uk reported after the match that Blues manager Pep Clotet confirmed that the winger had “felt something in his hamstring”, which resulted in him leaving the pitch prematurely.

As a result of the injury, the French-born winger was not included in the squad for Birmingham’s 3-1 loss to Reading last weekend.

However, despite his absence last Saturday, Birmingham manager Clotet provided a positive update on Bela prior to the Reading game last week, confirming that the winger’s injury is “milder than [they] expected”, before going on to claim that Bela’s injury “is not going to be a very long one”.

The player himself has recently taken to Twitter to provide Blues fans with a positive update on his fitness. Bela recently posted a tweet indicating that he may return to action soon, which has gotten some Blues supporters reacting with excitement. Who is the oldest player to make an appearance in the Championship this season?

What do we think?

Bela, who is valued at £2.25 million (as per Transfermarkt), has become an important player for Birmingham City since signing for the Blues on a free transfer back in November. The attacker has made a total of five assists in his 21 Championship appearances since joining, which makes him Birmingham City’s second-highest assist provider for the 2019/20 Championship season at present, despite only signing for the club in November

Bela has also made an average of one key pass per game for the Blues in the Championship this season, according to WhoScored.com. Given his impact since signing for the club, it may be understandable why some Birmingham fans have reacted with excitement to Bela’s latest positive injury update.
