Some Leicester City fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by 26-year-old right-back Ricardo Pereira to wish him well in his recovery from injury.
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers announced on Thursday the 12th of March that Pereira was struck down by an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which Rodgers confirmed would rule the right-back “out for the rest of the season”.
It may be fair to say that Pereira has been one of the Foxes best players this season. The Portuguese international has made an average of 4.3 tackles per game for the Foxes in the Premier League this season, in addition to earning an average overall rating of 7.50 from his 28 Premier League appearances during the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, according to WhoScored.com.
According to WhoScored, Pereira has made a higher number of tackles per game than any other Leicester player in the Premier League this term. Furthermore, the 26-year-old right-back has also earned a higher average overall rating than any other Leicester player in the Premier League this season.
Pereira recently made a post to Twitter, describing how he “never thought this could happen to (him)”, in addition to thanking Leicester fans for their “messages and support”. Many Foxes supporters have shared more messages of support for Pereira in response to this recent tweet. What do we think?
In addition to the right-back’s impressive defensive contributions, Pereira has made an average of one key pass per game this season, according to WhoScored.com. Only four Leicester players have made an average of more key passes per game than the Portuguese right-back during the 2019/20 campaign.
Considering his impressive impact for the Foxes at both ends of the pitch this season, it may be fair to say that Pereira, who is currently valued at £36m by Transfermarkt.co.uk, may be a big loss for Leicester City during his time out of action due to injury.
