Some Leicester City fans have recently been calling for ‘fantastic’ left-back Christian Fuchs to be given a new contract on social media.

Fuchs joined Leicester City on a three-year deal back in June 2015. The left-back joined the Foxes on a free transfer after leaving Bundesliga side Schalke, a club where the Austrian made a total of 136 competitive appearances over four full seasons, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The Leicester full-back previously signed a one-year contract extension following the end of his original three-year deal last summer, despite making just three Premier League appearances for the Foxes during the 2018/19 season.

As Fuchs’ current deal nears its end, with the Austrian left-back set to become a free agent on 30th June, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, some Leicester City fans have taken to Twitter to call for the club to give the 33-year-old another contract extension. Who holds the record of having scored the quickest goal in Premier League history?

What do we think?

The 33-year-old left-back, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), has featured in just eight of the Foxes’ 29 Premier League games so far this season, accumulating a total of 634 minutes thus far during the 2019/20 campaign.

Fuchs has made fewer Premier League appearances than 17 other Leicester City players so far this season. In addition to that, the former Austrian international has played fewer minutes than 13 other Leicester City players this season. Given his lack of significant game time this season, it may be understandable for Leicester City to deem the 33-year-old surplus to requirements at the end of the season – but it seems these fans think otherwise.
