Supporters of Everton have aired their disbelief that Gylfi Sigurdsson continues to be selected by Carlo Ancelotti to start matches.
Indeed, both before and during the game, these fans appeared to be less than happy with the midfielder.
He just doesn’t have a position in the current system. Lacks pace for wings, and struggles being in a central two. Maybe if the plan is one day to go to 3 in the middle he could improve. But at the moment he shouldn’t start

Totally agree, he’s actually stealing a living right now. #rubbish @CalvertLewin14 @aftgomes @richarlison97 I hope they tell him @ToffeeTVEFC @Everton

Should Carlo Ancelotti be looking to sell Gylfi Sigurdsson in the summer transfer window?Yes, would be a good ideaNo, he offers us something |
During this season, Sigurdsson has been the ninth-best performer in the squad in the Premier League with an average rating of 6.73/10 (per WhoScored).
And, he achieved a rating of 6.96 for his performance against the Red Devils, which suggests that he performed better than his average this season.
The biggest myth in modern football is Gylfi Sigurdsson being a “set-piece specialist” – the man is a clown

Sigurdsson is awful.

What do we think?
While supporters may not be in agreement, it is clear that Ancelotti sees something in the 30-year-old middleman as Sigurdsson has started eight games in the league since Ancelotti’s arrival at the club in late December (per Transfermarkt).
However, with just two goals and two assists over 28 appearances in all competitions (per Transfermarkt), it is also clear that the former Swansea City man should be contributing more with goal involvements.
