Fans of Everton have been gushing over one of the Toffees’ former players, Steven Pienaar, after a Twitter post from the South African.
On Tuesday, the retired 38-year-old quote tweeted footage of himself playing for the Toffees and stated ‘good old times I miss it’ (per Steven Pienaar), which had supporters echoing the sentiment.

The former attacker had two stints at Goodison Park, first between 2007 and 2011 after an initial loan from Borussia Dortmund became permanent. He then left for Tottenham Hotspur for a year and returned between 2012 and 2016, on loan initially and then permanent (per Transfermarkt).
When Pienaar departed Merseyside for the final time in 2016 for Sunderland (per Transfermarkt), he had bagged 26 goals and 49 assists in 229 appearances (per Transfermarkt), leaving fans infatuated with the 38-year-old.

What do we think?
As can be judged from the responses from supporters, it is left in doubt that the 38-year-old is widely admired by many Everton supporters and some would love a prime Steven Pienaar back at Goodison Park.
Having had 75 goal contributions in 229 appearances is impressive work for a winger (per Transfermarkt) and perhaps evidence of why the South African is so missed by Everton fans.
