Fans of Everton have been discussing former Toffees’ full-back Alessandro Pistone after they were asked for their memories of him on Twitter.
On Monday afternoon, supporters were asked the question on the 44-year-old Italian by @EvertonHeritage, which had some fans slamming their former player.
From an old Everton programme: Alessandro Pistone. What are your memories of the classy but, sadly, often-injured full-back? pic.twitter.com/Bam7VR7YQM

Not good enough.

Mainly not classy

He was far from classy. Valente was the player he tried to be

Are your memories of Alessandro Pistone positive or negative overall?Positive, treated harshlyNegative, he was terrible |
The former Internazionale and Newcastle United left-back spent seven years at Goodison Park, having arrived from the Toon in 2000 and departing on a free transfer in 2007 (per Transfermarkt).
During his time in Merseyside, the Italian featured in 113 appearances, during which he scored one and assisted zero (as per Transfermarkt), however, some supporters had slightly fonder memories.
Genuinely two footed player pretty rare

I wouldn’t say underrated more over abused, thought he was ok

Decent full back but right about injuries meant he struggled
— Bluewezzie1878 (@bluewezzie) March 23, 2020
I’ll never understand the hate for this lad.

What do we think?
Well, it is fair to say that very few supporters gave glowing reviews of their former left-back, with even the more positive comments not being entirely complimentary.
However, after only 113 appearances over seven seasons with the Merseyside club (per Transfermarkt), perhaps supporters are fair in their assessments of Pistone.
