Supporters of Everton have been discussing the possible return of the club’s Colombian centre-back, Yerry Mina, to Barcelona.
According to Gerard Romero, the Spanish giants are looking for a ball-playing defender in the summer aged 24-25, which some Everton supporters considered Mina to fit the billing of (via The Gwladys Street).

Do you consider Yerry Mina to be a ball-playing defender?Yes, his passing stats don't lieNo, he's a liability on the ball |
During this season, the 25-year-old central defender has been the Toffees’ fifth-best performer in the Premier League, with a solid 6.85/10 average rating (per WhoScored).
However, while some supporters were worried about the potential for Barca to come calling, many more felt that their desire for a ball-playing defender would rule the Colombian out.
No I love yerry but he’s not good enough for Barca

? no chance. I know in typical fashion he’s seen as some sort of cult hero at Everton but he’s nowhere near good enough to play for Barca.

I’d be sorry to see him go just for his dancing alone but that’s a lot of money
— Steven Irons (@iron5blue) March 5, 2020
We are safe then as Yerry is anything but a ball playing centre half

When did Mina become a ball playing centre half?

What do we think?
While some supporters seemed baffled that Mina could be considered a ball-playing defender and therefore Barcelona would not be interested, his stats suggest otherwise (per WhoScored).

With an average of 48.9 passes per Premier League game, Mina completes more passes than any other player in the Everton squad on average and with a success rate of 83.7%, he is the fifth-most successful passer in the squad (per WhoScored).
