A report in Colombian outlet Antena2, shared by The Toffee Blues, has claimed that Everton are looking at Atletico Madrid right-back Santiago Arias.
The Colombian international, who joined Diego Simeone’s side in 2018, has only made 11 appearances this season as Kieran Trippier appears to have emerged as Simeone’s number-one right-back.
Arias was part of the PSV Eindhoven squad that won the Eredivisie in 2018, but it seems like the Colombian has been ignored by Simeone in favour of Trippier.
Meanwhile, Everton have Seamus Coleman and Djibril Sidibe among their options at right-back at the moment, but Coleman is now 31, and Sidibe is only on loan.
Who would you rather be Everton's right-back next season?
Arias
Coleman
Sidibe
This means that a possible move for Arias could be realistic in the summer as Carlo Ancelotti looks to rebuild his squad.
What do we think?
Arias is a full international having made 53 appearances for his country, and he played in England’s game with Colombia in the 2018 World Cup – which the Three Lions won on penalties.
His move to Atletico has not really worked out considering he has only played in 44 games, and if this report is true, then he could be brought to Goodison Park by Ancelotti in the summer.
Coleman has made 18 league appearances this season and only averages a 6.59 rating in the league – so there are signs he could be on the decline.
Sidibe, on the other hand, has made 21 league appearances for the Toffees, and he averages 7.01 – so it is unclear if Everton will turn his loan deal into a permanent move.
That leaves Arias as a potential option – it will be interesting to see if anything comes of it in the summer.
