Aston Villa fans have been pleading on Twitter for their club to keep hold of goalkeeper Matija Sarkic.
This comes after Villa journalist Gregg Evans shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing a number of statistics on the shot-stopper before asking his followers if the club should keep the 22-year-old.
Should Villa keep hold of Matija Sarkic
Yes
No
This post then gathered a number of replies from Villa fans who think Sarkic should stay at the club.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:
Story on what it’s like to be Matija Sarkic for @TheAthleticUK
– Remains the only GK to stop #celticfc scoring in SPL this season.
– 7/9 home clean sheets.
– An anxious wait as his #AVFC contract runs down
– Should Villa keep him?https://t.co/EVnssuGBLq— Gregg Evans (@greggevans40) March 5, 2020
It would be such a shame if we develop a player for 5 years who looks the business and played excellently for Livingston just to let him go.
However, he hasn’t exactly been given the chance to shine in the first team so he has to be shown theres a path the the number 1 jersey

This guy and O’Hare need to have their contracts dealt with ASAP. Two fantastic talents that we’ll lose if we’re not careful.

I think we should do a Henderson and sign him up but tell him he’s going out on loan for the next 2 seasons to become first team ready.

The goalkeeper spent the first half of the season on a short-term loan deal at Scottish club Livingston before returning to Villa in January (per Transfermarkt). In his 18 appearances for the Scottish club, Sarkic managed to keep seven clean sheets during his time there. Now that the question has been asked over his future at the Birmingham club, this has opened the door for lots of Villa fans to share their hopes on Twitter to see the goalkeeper remain a Villa player.

Keep him especially if we go down. Heaton will be injured, Steer is made of glass and Nyland is unreliable at best. Why not give him his shot?

Yes they should keep him

What do we think?
It’s good to see these Villa fans hoping to see the club keep Sarkic in the squad, this shows that the fans have the confidence and faith that he could be a significant player for the club in the future.
