Aston Villa fans have been reacting on Twitter to footage of former Villan Barry Bannan playing in Sheffield Wednesday’s FA Cup clash against Manchester City.
This comes after Villa fan Twitter account @oldmansaid shared a post on their official page that included a video originally posted by @btsportfootball of Bannan nutmegging City’s Bernardo Silva in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s side in midweek.
Did Bannan flop at Villa?
Yes
No
The page then captioned the post calling Bannan the “Scottish Iniesta” after his recent piece of skill.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Villa fans who were quick to share their own reactions to the footage.
Here’s a sample of Villa fans responding to the post:

The 30-year-old left the Birmingham club back in 2013 for a move to Crystal Palace where he left in 2015 for current club Sheffield Wednesday (per Transfermarkt). Bannan made 82 appearances for Villa in his time at the club, scoring just two goals and providing seven assists. Now that footage has emerged on Twitter of the former Villa man pulling off a nutmeg on City’s Silva, this has given some Villa fans the opportunity to share their opinions on their former man.
Shame he never got the time or recognition when with the Villa,I suppose it was his lack of height that counted against him.
But he certainly found his home at Wednesday.
Best of luck to him— Mike Knott (@MikeKnott10) March 5, 2020

I heard someone call him the Scottish David Bentley after he’d skied a free kick and I still maintain it’s the funniest thing I’ve heard at a football ground.

What do we think?
It’s always good to see a cheeky bit of skill like a nutmeg being successfully pulled off in a match. The replies to this post from the Villa fans show that they still have feelings towards the midfielder after leaving the club years ago.
