Some West Brom fans have shown their admiration for ‘underappreciated’ Romaine Sawyers via social media, as the 28-year-old talks about getting “goosebumps” playing at The Hawthorns.
The 28-year-old midfielder recently spoke to West Brom’s official website about his journey to becoming a first-team player for the Baggies, declaring that he “always wanted to play for West Brom” growing up.
Sawyers, a Saint Kitts and Nevis international, discussed beginning his journey at West Brom when he “was only seven”, feeling “hurt” at being released from the club in 2013, as well as the “goosebumps” he felt upon his return to the Hawthorns at the beginning of the current season in his interview with the club website.
Sawyers has started 31 of the Championship leaders’ 33 league games so far this season. The midfielder has made an average of 65 passes per game this season, which is a higher average number of passes per game than any other West Brom player has managed to achieve.

What do we think?
Given the large number of games he has played for the Baggies this season, as well as his impressive passing statistics, it may be fair to claim that Sawyers has been a key member of West Brom’s Championship-leading squad this season.
Sawyers has also shown his versatility this season, featuring regularly in a defensive midfield position for the Baggies, despite normally playing in a more attacking midfield role throughout his career. Sawyers’ versatility and reliability this season may well make him an underappreciated member of West Brom’s squad.
