By losing to Portsmouth on the weekend, Sunderland fans were left watching their side fail to score for the eighth time in Phil Parkinson’s 22-game reign. Of the remaining 14 games, they have scored more than once only four times. It is clear that a lack of goals has been the biggest problem for Parkinson at the club.
This sparked a question amongst Sunderland fans as to whether Will Grigg, who is valued at £1.35 million (as per Transfermarkt), was deserving of another chance. Roker Report posed the question to fans on Twitter, and while a few reckon he could still do a trick for the side, there were many more fans who don’t think he deserves one, having not made the most of the chances he has been given.

These people who think Grigg should get another chance what have they been watching for the last 12 months? No movement & power, weak, half hearted, not motivated, no confidence, can’t hit a barn door, he’s had enough chances move on !

He needs to do more when given his opportunity

Do you think Will Grigg deserves another chance?
Yes
No
Others question if he even wants another chance. They don’t think he wants to succeed at the club.
The real question in all of this is, does he “want” another chance ? The vibe he gives off is that he absolutely hates it here. Us “giving” him another chance isn’t the problem imo.

Think it depends on whether he wants it. Never been convinced he wants to be at #SAFC tbh but having turned down a move away he needs to convince that he should be paid by us. Otherwise we have a low level Rodwell on our hands.

What do we think?
In 19 League One games this season, Grigg has only scored once and assisted once. It is a record that is shameful for a striker of his quality. It is no wonder that the fans are tired of giving him chances and want him to leave. Perhaps they are right to feel that way?
