Some Southampton fans have been raving about their winger Nathan Redmond following his display against Spurs in midweek.
Redmond was part of the Southampton side that lost 3-2 to Tottenham in their FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday. Late goals from Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son saw Jose Mourinho’s men come back from 2-1 down to reach the fifth round of the competition.
Does Redmond deserve to play for England?
Yes, he's good enough
No, not at that level yet
While Redmond didn’t score, one piece of action from the game has been drawing attention. His run to create Ings’ goal in the second half has drawn special praise from many Saints fans.
Why is nobody talking about an England recall for Redmond either? His form lately has been unreal. He’s totally unstoppable when he’s playing this well. Been absolutely pivotal in #SaintsFC’s improvement. https://t.co/hUVqyhEJ09

Forgetting everything else tonight, i think our second is the best counter-attacking goal i’ve ever seen #saintsfc score. Pure brilliance from Redmond and a fantastic finish from outside the box by Ings. Back in the goals #saintsfc

Thought Redmond was going to do a Maradona for a moment but he was feeling generous and let Ings do the honours instead.#SaintsFC

So far this season, Redmond has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Saints. He has racked up four goals and three assists for the club. In the Premier League, he has recorded three goals and one assist.
TIF Tactics
This season, Redmond has completed 2.3 dribbles per game for the Saints in the league – the third-best tally for the club at present. The Englishman has also played 1.2 key passes per game and that is the second-best total for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men this season.
These numbers show what an important player Redmond is for Southampton. Per Whoscored, he has the sixth-best average rating for the team, and it is a reflection of how much he means to Hasenhuttl’s side. Perhaps he does indeed deserve an international call-up.
