Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass opened his goalscoring account for the club just 16 minutes into his Owls career during the weekend’s South Yorkshire derby. The fixture between Barnsley and Garry Monk’s side ended in a 1-1 draw meaning the play-off hopefuls remain six points off of the top six.
The 26-year-old, currently on loan from Wigan Athletic, played the entire 90 minutes and whilst the result wasn’t quite what the supporters would have hoped for, they seemed to have been impressed by what they saw from Windass, who dedicated his goal to the late Jordan Sinnott.
Can Josh Windass help fire the Owls in to the play-off positions?

Poor keeping getting beat at his near post but won’t complain, struck it well.

Wickham shows a glimmer of what he can do, windass took his goal well, other than that poor, cant string a pass together, joey running the midfield as usual #swfc

Thought Windass took his goal extremely well yesterday
Did he actually touch the ball again more than 5 times after that? #swfc

My thoughts on yesterday.
On a positive note far more fight than in previous games.
Windass took his goal well
Nando looked interested, 2nd half our best player.
Wickham off the pace a little but won almost every header.
Da Cruz looked dangerous #swfc— Simon Morris (@BigAl_simon) February 9, 2020
What do we think?
Windass joined the Owls on deadline day and Garry Monk will be hoping he can contribute some goals in Steven Fletcher’s absence as the club’s play-off hopes hang in the balance. The forward scored nine goals in 56 appearances for the Latics but made his name in Scotland with Rangers, for whom he scored 19 goals in 73 appearances.
